Tony Mills
BOARD MEMBER
Tony Mills is a passionate naturalist and educator who has worked in the field of environmental education for over four decades, with an emphasis on southeastern animals. He strongly believes that an appreciation and understanding of local habitats are essential for protecting the animals and plants that live in them. Tony is the Education Director for the Spring Island Trust, developing and co-teaching the Lowcountry Master Naturalist Program and producing and conducting educational programs for the public. He writes and hosts the Emmy award-winning nature program “Coastal Kingdom,” which airs on South Carolina Educational Television. Tony conducts field studies on snakes, turtles, lizards, and alligators and collaborates with visiting scientists, students, and interns from universities across the region. Although he spends a major portion of his time teaching, writing, and filming, he maintains his passion for fieldwork, especially with reptiles and amphibians.
