CONSERVATION LEADERS
Sidney is from central Mississippi, where he grew up getting familiar with the woods and all its glorious wildlife. He was educated at Mississippi State University and Clemson University in wildlife and fisheries biology. He has worked across the Southeastern United States and internationally on invasive and threatened reptiles. He is interested in natural history and filling information gaps to help conserve rare and understudied reptiles and amphibians. His work has included gopher tortoise and black pinesnake conservation, crocodilian monitoring and conservation, prescribed fire, amphibian and reptile monitoring, and invasive reptile control and removal. He served in the military as a rifleman and tank crewmember, where he trained at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center. He now works at Camp Shelby assisting the base’s natural resources program with threatened amphibians and reptiles.
