Emily Langer

PRIVATE LANDS BIOLOGIST

Wilmington, NC

elanger@ARCProtects.org

While born and raised in the Northeast, Emily’s travels have led her to call many places home. Her love of wildlife and the outdoors began at a young age, much to the bemused interest of her city-dwelling family. She received her BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources and Conservation Science from West Virginia University. She later returned to West Virginia to serve as an AmeriCorps member with Canaan Valley NWR for two years. This experience fostered her interest in herpetology and provided her with the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with many state and federal partners. From there, she accepted a graduate research position in the Herpetology & Applied Conservation Lab at Marshall University and moved to coastal North Carolina, where she studied eastern diamondback rattlesnakes. As a Private Lands Biologist with ARC, she shares her passion for the recovery and conservation of at-risk species with local communities and engages landowners as partners in wildlife conservation.
